Like most aspiring actors it was with a season in repertory theatre that Jan took her first faltering acting steps - literally, as she has told in interviews how the different discipline of how to move on stage as an actor as opposed to a dancer took some adjusting to!

Other early stage roles proved equally memorable with a musical that closed after only 4 days, and another production also cut short, this time when the theatre burnt down!

So perhaps it's not surprising that soon after this Jan increasingly opted for the relative safety of the televison studio, resulting in a 12 year absence from the stage...

 Staged on two consecutive nights, an evening of song and reminiscences with SECRET ARMY star Angela Richards. Both evenings ended with various SECRET ARMY Cast & Crew joining Angela on stage for a Q&A session. Jan was present only on the second evening.
